Artistic Planning

Former Artistic Director

Pocket Opera of New York

Developing creative content and programming that spans digital, theatrical and musical worlds has been the focus of my artistic planning work.  From 2008 to 2010, I worked with Pocket Opera of New York as its Artistic Director, programming operas and events, as well as supporting creative performers, designers, and stage directors.  Highlights from this time include programming lesser heard works like Debussy’s La chute de la Maison Usher, Handel’s Apollo e Dafne and Alcina and Poulenc’s La voix humaine.

In 2015,  Giants Are Small asked me to curate the classical music selections featured in their collaboration with Deutsche Grammophon on Peter and the Wolf in Hollywood, an album and interactive storybook app for iOS narrated by rock icon Alice Cooper.  The product has now been developed into an international touring concert with major symphonic orchestras across the world.

New classical selections from Peter and the Wolf in Hollywood can be sampled here on Spotify:

Part of Pocket Opera’s mission is to challenge the traditional opera experience and if this occasion was representative, they’re succeeding.
